Dwarjo Terms of Use
Version 1.0, 22 October 2026
Effective date: 22 October 2026
Dwarjo ("Dwarjo", "we", "us") is a community management platform for residential societies in India, operated by Deepak Kumar, sole proprietor, A8 Madhurima, Conron Smith Road, Gopalapuram, Chennai 600086, Tamil Nadu, India ("the Operator").
These terms govern your use of the Dwarjo resident app, the society admin console, the guard console and our website (together, "the Service"). By creating an account or continuing to use the Service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
How we handle personal data is set out separately in our Privacy Policy at dwarjo.com/privacy, which forms part of these terms.
1. Two different agreements
It helps to be clear about who is agreeing to what.
Your society (its managing committee or resident welfare association) subscribes to Dwarjo. The commercial terms — what it pays, for how many flats, and for how long — are in the separate agreement between Dwarjo and that society.
You agree to these terms as a user of the Service, whether you are a resident, a household member, a guard or a committee member. These terms do not make you liable for your society's subscription.
2. Who may use Dwarjo
You must be 18 or older to hold a Dwarjo account. A resident may record household members who are under 18; those members do not get their own account.
You may use the Service only if your society has invited you or approved your claim to a flat, or if your society employs you as a guard or staff member.
3. Your account
You sign in with your mobile number and a one-time code. Keep your phone and your access to that number secure: anyone who can receive your codes can sign in as you.
Tell us or your committee promptly if you believe someone else has used your account.
You are responsible for what is done through your account, except where it results from our failure to keep the Service secure.
4. What your society decides, and what we decide
Your society decides who lives in which flat, who sits on the committee, which guards work at the gate, what bills are raised, and what notices are posted. It can approve or reject your claim to a flat, change your role, or remove you from the society on Dwarjo. We act on those instructions.
We decide how the Service itself works: its features, its security, and the rules in this document.
If you disagree with something your society has done on Dwarjo — a bill, a removal, a rejected claim — raise it with your committee. We cannot overrule a society's decision about its own residents, and we will not take sides in a dispute between you and your society.
5. Using the Service properly
Do not use Dwarjo to:
Impersonate another resident, guard or committee member, or claim a flat you have no right to.
Post anything unlawful, abusive, obscene, defamatory or hateful, or anything that harasses another resident.
Collect or publish another person's personal data beyond what the Service shows you, including photographing residents or visitors for any purpose other than the gate record your society keeps.
Use the Service to advertise a business, except in a marketplace listing where your society allows it.
Interfere with the Service: probing it for weaknesses, circumventing access controls, scraping it, or putting load on it beyond ordinary use.
We may remove content that breaks these rules, and your committee may remove content under its own society's rules.
6. Content you post
You keep ownership of what you post — notices, listings, comments, photographs and documents.
You give us permission to store and display that content to the people the Service is meant to show it to: your society, its committee, and other residents where the feature is shared. That permission lasts as long as the content is on the Service.
You are responsible for having the right to post what you post.
Marketplace listings are between you and the other resident. Dwarjo is not a party to the sale, does not verify items or prices, and takes no part in settling a dispute over one.
7. Gate records and photographs
A gate register is the point of the product. Guards record who arrived, when, and what was decided. They may photograph a visitor at check-in, a parcel left at the gate, or goods being taken out on a material pass.
Those records belong to your society, which decides how long to keep them and who may see them. We provide the controls; the society sets the policy. What we collect and how it is protected is described in the Privacy Policy.
If you are a guard, use the camera only for the gate record. Photographing a resident or visitor for any other reason is a misuse of the Service and of your position.
8. Payments
Dwarjo does not take your money.
When you pay a maintenance bill, the payment goes to your society through the society's own bank, UPI or payment-gateway account. Your society is the merchant. We record what you and the society tell us so that the ledger stays straight; we do not hold, route or refund resident payments.
If a payment fails, is refunded, or is disputed, that is between you and your society, and the society's own payment provider.
9. The subscription, between us and your society
Fees, the number of flats covered, the billing period and renewal are set in the agreement between Dwarjo and your society. A society that does not pay may lose access to the Service, and its residents with it.
We will give a society reasonable notice before suspending it for non-payment, and reasonable notice of a price change at renewal.
10. Availability
We aim to keep the Service running and to tell you when it is not. We do not promise uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, a failure at our hosting provider, a network problem, or an act outside our control can interrupt it.
Dwarjo is not an emergency service. The SOS feature alerts the people your society has configured; it does not call the police, an ambulance or a fire service. In an emergency, call the emergency services.
A gate decision is made by a guard, not by the app. Number-plate reading and visitor matching are aids; a guard confirms what is recorded.
11. Suspension and ending your use
You may stop using Dwarjo at any time, and you may ask us to delete your account — see dwarjo.com/delete-account.
Your society may remove you from its Dwarjo society, for example when you move out.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is being used to harm another person, or where we are required to by law. Where we can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right first.
Some records survive your account. A bill you were issued, a payment the society recorded, a gate entry, and audit records belong to your society and remain with it. The Privacy Policy explains what is deleted and what is kept.
12. Our responsibility, and its limits
We will provide the Service with reasonable skill and care.
We are not responsible for:
What your society, its committee or its guards decide or record.
What another resident posts, sells, or does.
Loss caused by someone using your account because your phone or number was not secure.
Interruptions outside our reasonable control.
Where we are liable to you, our total liability is limited to the amount your society paid for the Service in the three months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by Indian law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
These limits are deliberately plain: Dwarjo is a small operation, priced accordingly, and we would rather say so than bury it.
13. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and for material changes we will tell you in the app or by email. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept it.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Chennai, Tamil Nadu have exclusive jurisdiction, except that either of us may seek urgent relief in any competent court.
